DD-793

During the winter break I visited the USS Constitution at the Charleston Navy Yard in Boston, MA. While there, I took this photo of the dry docked USS Cassin Young. The Cassin Young is a Fletcher class destroyer that was built in 1943. You can read more about her at the Cassin Young National Park site. (Click the photo for a larger view)

Back in Action

Now that the fall semester is well underway, I believe I can be more active here. My first order of business is to show you some new images I shot before school started. I hope you enjoy them.

Air France’s New Addition

Dan Webb recently toured Air France’s new lounge at Washington-Dulles International Airport. The lounge’s design looks modern and even provides first class passengers with their own area. My favorite part of the lounge is the full bar.

Falcon 9 Success!

I am a little late to the party on this, but congratulations to SpaceX on getting Falcon 9 to orbit on the first attempt! Very well done. I am not into the whole NASA vs Commercial Space. I believe that both are necessary to the future of space.

Over for a Time

The spring semester has been completed. It was both enjoyable and yet stressful at times, but I believe I learned a great deal. The semester will not be officially over, however until grades are posted on Thursday so a short waiting game applies. Until the beginning of Summer I on June 3rd, I will have a stress free break. It will be glorious.

Put to Pasture

Here is a time lapse video of a Boeing 707 being dismantled. I wonder how many of these aircraft are still in use around the world.

Enjoy the Ride

I cannot wait to be able to do this:

Make sure you watch this in HD.

The Sun as Never Seen Before

NASA released several movies from the Solar Dynamics Observatory. Since NASA posted these on YouTube, I am able to embed them below. The images are awe inspiring. Make sure you watch these in HD.
